Long-term US Large Cap Stock Trend Remains Intact
Below is a daily chart of the S&P 500 index. The red smoothed line in the chart is the 200-day simple moving average (SMA):
The 200-day SMA slopes upwards – a good sign
Prices remain above the 200-day SMA – a good sign
The uptrend remains intact – we recommend staying invested in US Equities
US Stocks Oversold
Note the green circle in the chart. It shows that stochastics, a short-term oscillator that fluctuates from overbought to oversold, is showing an oversold condition. Typically, we want to buy when stochastics are oversold, sell when overbought. This indicator is not always right, but it does somewhat help mitigate buying at tops.
Clients may want to increase their equity % held now
Clients may want to invest cash on the sidelines now
You can see that the last time stochastics were oversold was end of March 2018, February 2018 and August 2017
